Motokawa, a Tokyo-based casting director, has cast numerous projects ranging from independent films to major features, TV series, music videos, and commercials, both in Japan and abroad.
Born in Yokohama, he moved to the United States in his early teens and attended The Cambridge School of Weston, where he cultivated his interest in the performing arts. He later continued his studies in Paris, while immersing himself in world cinema at the Cinémathèque Française and revival houses. These experiences set him firmly on the path to filmmaking.
Motokawa went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film from the California Institute of the Arts. Returning to Japan, he began his career at Toei Tokyo Studio, a major Japanese film studio, where he collaborated with acclaimed Japan Academy Prize–winning directors.
In 2005, he founded Rapallo Casting in Tokyo. Since then, he has cast a wide range of works spanning feature films, television, advertising, and music videos.

横浜生まれ。15歳で渡米後、California Institute of the Arts（カリフォルニア芸術大学）映画学部を卒業。帰国後、東映東京撮影所キャスティング部に所属し、数多くの作品に携わる。2005年に独立し、映画・TVCMなど国内外の映像作品を手掛けている。
